Blog Comments, now anyone can.

I just realized that I did not have my blog set to allow comments from people not on blogger. Now anyone can comment. So if you have been holding back and about to burst with something you really want to tell me, now you can. Just don't say anything mean I am a Libra and really sensative.

So last night for Halloween Hope was me, I was Hope and Erin was a World War II nurse. That is her great grandmothers nurse uniform even. Wanna see more pictures from the evening? Sure you do. The party at Tina's was loads of fun.

So today so far I have worked, worked and worked some more. Well there was a trip to Buffet Palace for lunch. Chris and I's guilty pleasure is mediocre Chinese food. Ok back to work.

Happy Halloween!

Here is some of my friend’s handy work from Erin’s pumpkin carving party. Pretty sweet stuff. Check out Courtney’s rendition of Erin’s dog Harriet. Mark did a tribute to the Astros because this picture was taken when we were still in the running for the World Series. Hope of course did Easy E on her pumpkin. Chris carved our finally pumpkin down at the bottom with a big nose. Wanna see pictures from the festivities? I made home made black bean and pumpkin soup.

So it is Halloween and it is raining like cats and dogs here in Austin. Tina is having a pot luck tonight so I will brave the storm. I am going as Hope and Hope is going as me. Not sure how we are going to do it besides Hope is covering her arm in fake tattoos.

Walked with Erin this morning and then went to see Vickie who just returned this weekend from her stint in Los Angeles filming the latest season of Knitty Gritty. Vickie is such a sweetie to me I was looking at all the pictures from the shoot and she was wearing tons of Naughty Secretary Club jewelry. Then she has a full page write up on pillows in the current issue of Budget Living and in the picture from her bio she is wearing Naughty Secretary Club Revamped Vintage Earrings and a Revamped Vintage Brooch. Plus she plugged the Austin Craft Mafia and Stylelicious. Then she is in a new book called Celebrity Scarves 2 and she is wearing one of my Revamped Vintage Rings on not one but two pages! Plus the book got a review in Vogue Knitting and they used her picture which means the ring is in there too. Oh how I love to see my jewelry smiling back at me from the pages of magazines.

So Ok I better go think deep “What Would Hope Wear” thoughts for tonight.

Werewolves always look stupid.

Why do werewolves always look so fake? Friday night I saw part of an American Werewolf in London and that is such a sad excuse for a werewolf. Seriously, not scary at all. Did you know for the low low price of $19.95 you can get David Naughton to call you. Then right this minute I am watching the Neverending Story and that wolf G'Mork is so awful. All the other animals and people in fantasia are really cool looking and that wolf is just pitiful. Did you know that the voice of Falkor and G'Mork in that movie are done by the same dude. In 'another weird werewolf coincidence I watched the Private Lives of Dentists yesterday that stars Jason Bateman who was in Teen Wolf two. I prefer the original Teen Wolf wih Styles and Michael J Fox surfing on top of the van. Man it seems like I watch a lot of TV. I have gotten into dragging all my jewelry out into the living room and sitting at the coffee table working because all the desks in my studio are covered with stuff and I am too lazy to clean them off.

Naughty Secretary Club on Elle Girl

Wanna read an article about me on Elle Girl.com? Sure you do. Be sure to check out the guide to making a gold leafed ping pong ball necklace for a sneak peak of some of my runway baubles for Stitch.

Watched a weird Roman Polanski movie last night called "The Tenant". Very odd. Today I am listening to the book “The Art of Seduction” and putting together orders. Think I might go for a bike ride in a bit.

Damn that is a Kickin' Halloween Mix If I do Say So Myself.

Look how cute Tina, Cory and Erin are. They did not plan to be so Mod and hip, but these things happen. We went to a new and exciting bar in Austin on Saturday called The Peacock and the interior was absolutely amazing. The neighborhood was a touch of the shady side, but once inside the place was like a 60’s Mod palace. Good times were had by all besides these kids Hope, Kurt, Karly, her new boy toy, Michael and more came out. Here are some pictures.

Yesterday was nothing exciting. Chris’s dad was still here and we hung out for a bit and went to lunch. I spent the afternoon spray painting ping pong balls gold for an article I am writing for Elle Girl. That evening Hope, Kurt and Erin swung by for a bit.

I have spent the day putting together orders and making an IMIX for Erin’s pumpkin carving party tomorrow. It is pretty sweet if you asked me. Mommy I wanna go hoome, her house smells funny.

Gosh it has been almost a week since I have written, what a bad girl I am. What can I say I was super busy.

Sunday Chris and I cleaned house and did some arranging. We also potted all the succulents Chia gave us. That came to 13 pots by the way. There are some really cool things in there I am still investigating. Later that evening Hope, Kurt, Erin and Cory came by at various times to have a few drinks on the porch. We grilled and can I say the Grilled Chipotle Stuffed Pork Loin I made was delicious.

Monday morning started off with my old boss Sarah coming by to visit me with her twin boys Matt and Will. They were such cute well behaved children. I let them play with my collection of vintage water guns in the backyard. The two funny things they said were “Mommy can we go her house smells funny”. I have pets what can I say, ordered scented candles last week. Then we went to find the cat and she was hiding under the spare bed which is a mess and one of them looked at me very seriously and said “Did the cat do this to your room?” I can just imagine what size cat he was thinking of. After that the boys selected 3 of my biggest gold necklaces to wear and we were off to Polvos for lunch. It was really good to see Sarah, she lives in Dallas now so I hardly ever do. She was never like a real boss we always totally screwed off. After lunch and she got on the road back to Big D I called Erin and she I went to the mall. At the mall she bought a TV and I bought some footless tights and a couple of blue jean mini skirts. Went home and got ready for the Stitch meeting with the designers. We had to go to emo’s first to measure and then over to some Irish bar because Club Deville was closed. It went well and all the designers seem really awesome.

Tuesday Hope and I woke up and headed for Dallas. We stopped along the way in Waco at a couple of thrift stores and an antique mall. I didn’t get anything but Hope scored some purses to paint and a canvas. She has an art show here in Austin in a couple of weeks where she has to paint unicorns. She is painting Lionel Ritchie as a unicorn as a matter of fact. We got in and went to dinner with our parents and laid low.

Wednesday my mom, Hope and I spent the entire day shopping in Dallas. Came home with bags of goodies. New supplies for Naughty Secretary Club and a pair of shoes and 2 new bags for me! That night we met my dad in Richardson for dinner at Papasitos, per my request. It was yummy to my tummy. After that Hope and I went down to a local bar in McKinney where we met up with one of my oldest dearest best friends Becky and another really good friend Kevin. We hung out at the bar and talked about old times. Wanna see the pictures? After we went back to my parents house for a bit and then over to her brother Justin’s house where there were some old friends of Hope’s who I did not really know.

Thursday woke up wishing I had gone to bed before 3am. Hope and I went to the Great Outdoors for lunch in Plano on our way back to Austin, We used to always eat at this place with our mom when we were kids and wanted a summer sub for old times sake. It was not near as good as we remembered it. On the drive back we talked a lot about Stitch and sorted out some details of our models. That night Chris was making his debut at Emo’s with his new band Camp X-Ray. Erin and I went down to see them. They were super good and oodles of my friends were there so that was nice saw Courtney, Tina, Cameron, Beth, Andra, Matt, Chris H, PJ, Tim, Ryan, Jeoromy, Mike and more. Got home early.

Here we are on Friday morning. I need to put on some clothes and run out and buy ping pong balls for an article I am writing for Elle Girl. My father in law is coming at some point today to visit Chris and I. This means I need to clean off the spare bed that the kitty messed up.

Would you rather be able to fly or shoot lasers out of your eyes?

These are the deep and profound questions my husband likes to ask me on Saturday morning. Sure we were in our jammies eating cinnamon rolls watching Superman Part 2 so it was kind of relevant, but still. I chose being able to fly just for the record. Although Terrance Stamp did look pretty cool shooting those lasers out of his eyes. Why did Terrance go on to movies like this? He worked with Pasolini for God’s sake.

Chris and I spent the afternoon watching TV and recuperating from our night out. We went to Cory’s benefit at Beerland. With my headache today I can say the bar came by it’s name honestly. It was a super fun time though. Cory, Karly, Tina, Hope, Kurt, Matt (Bearden), Courtney, Matt (Buie), Chris, Erin, and DAVE MORGAN MOST IMPORTANTLY – all kinds of friends there. I think I have officially learned my karaoke lesson. Hope signed Tina, Cory, herself and I up to sing “Hey Ya” by Outkast which we totally bombed. The MC was nice enough to play “9 to 5” for us to give us a chance to redeem ourselves and Hope and I sloppily bombed that too. Ya me and karaoke were just not meant to be. Wanna see pictures.

So anyway, back to today. Chris and I just got back from going to Doug’s house. He burned a bunch of CDs for Chris. His whole house is a studio now with all this crazy big cool looking equipment. If you live in Austin and need to record, he has got all the belles and whistles. After that Chris and I ran some errands. Why oh why is finding an entertainment center so hard? Seriously I am dying to buy a new TV, a big one, possibly even plasma – but I can not find a damn entertainment center. The one I have now only holds a small TV, I need something for a TV but also all my stereo equipment including a turntable. Oh the dramas.

So now Chris and I are back with a kitchen full of Asian food. We are going to make noodle bowls and we got all kinds of fun stuff like endamane and dumplings. Most importantly we scored Lana brand egg rolls. See Chris and I used to get this brand all the time, but somewhere along the way the grocery store quit selling them. They were the best egg rolls ever, all the other frozen ones suck. We were so happy to be reunited with our favorite frozen egg roll again. I was also researching some Ehiopian recipes tonight.

Tomorrow Chris and I are going to play in the dirt. Chia loaded Chris up with a bazillion plant cuttings from she and Javi’s yard. Lots of cool succulents. I am super pumped. Then we are going to head down to south First for the art walk and see the shops and chat with friends. Maybe I will hit the City Wide Garage Sale too.

Vaseline and hair no mixy-mixy

Holy Moly have I busted booty and updated Naughty Secretary Club like crazy today. I don’t even know where to start with what to tell you about first.

After I saw Naughty Secretary Club’s Prissy necklace in Cosmo Girl yesterday it reminded me I had another style of Prissy, Prissy Dee-Luxe I had never added to the web site. That’s not all I added two other Nouveau Necklaces while I was there.

In other necklace news I added two new styles to Nostalgic Notions Necklaces. I imagine the zodiacs are going to sell out quick. I only have a couple of each sign and Libra is already gone. I kept one for me and then I gave one to my wardrobe stylist in Los Angeles. They match the Zodiac Cuff bracelets perfectly. I love those bracelets, but my wholesaler keeps giving me the run around on getting more of the cuffs so they may soon be extinct.

The necklace news does not stop there, oh no. I also added 3 new options in Revamped Vintage Necklaces. I have tons to add, but I wanted to get my black options up for fall.

Necklaces are not the only revamp section that got an infusion of goodies. 3 new Revamped Vintage Bracelets. Including an all black version of the Cha Cha bracelet that I might decide to keep for myself I love it so much. I have a matching necklace for it too that I have not quite gotten up on the site yet. These cha cha bracelets are kind of tricky to photograph. They look good, but they look really awesome in person. I wear one almost everyday and always get asked about it.

Revamped Vintage Rings also got updated. I had made a bunch to wear on Craft Lab since you get to see my hands a lot on TV. So now they are all up on the web site. I think there are like 20 plus of them. Last weekend at Roundtop I got the mother load of cute buttons and such to make a whole new batch of rings with. Brace yourself I have deers, pirates and lime green anchors coming your way.

I snuck in one more Revamped Vintage pair of Earrings. These are a really awesome coral and brown pair that I am quite smitten on.

Two new styles of Nostalgic Notions Earrings are making their debut. I like Hot Blooded because they are made with little Thermometers. Did you catch my whole Foreigner peppered description? Have I ever told you how much I hate that song “I Wanna Know What Love Is”? I hate it with the fiery passions of hell actually.

I don’t want your hair to feel left out so there are 3 new options of Hair Goodies. Choose from flowers, hoopty rides or Chariots of Fire. What? Ya really.

I told you it was a lot of stuff.

I also spent a lot of the day looking at style.com at pictures of the runway shows from spring 2006. I have to say so far I am bored to tears. Carolina Herrera had some lovely detail in some of her things, the wedges at Chloe are amazing and I am in love with Brasso and Brooke who I have never seen before today. Mind you I didn’t make it through all the pictures yet, I’ll keep you posted on what else I like. Wanna know what I hate? The hair at Alexander McQueen. Man he sold out, his stuff used to be really interesting. I digress; the hair on his models was awful and slimey. Reminded me of the time in third grade I put Vaseline in my hair thinking it would be a great deep conditioner. Took months for that crap to come out. The whole time my mother making me wash my hair with stuff like vinegar and laundry detergent. The models hair looked down right slimy.

I talked to a nice gal at Elle Girl today and did an interview about Naughty Secretary Club, Stitch and the Austin Craft Mafia. I’ll keep you posted on when it goes live. It is for Elle Girl.com.

I need to go play outfit party now. My boxes of clothing I bought off the stylist in LA finally arrived. Hooray! I am going to see Cory’s documentary at Beer land tonight. There could be karoke involved (can I do it without Lisa and Nicole?) I stayed home last night. Man did Hotel Rwanda get me all riled up. I hate mean and cruel people. Chris says I am addicted to movies about travesties of justice and this was definitely one. I knew that had happened, but I did not know about the differences between the Hutu and the Tootsies. Stupid people in a mob mentality scare me. Reminds me from my days in college getting my psych degree and all learning all the studies people like Stanley Milgrim did about how people get pressured into doing things, awful things, with social peer pressure. I can’t believe all those people were that cruel and awful there was just some crazy weird tipping point with everyone that made things go nuts there. Similar situations have happened before and will happen again and they are always really disturbing and scary. Makes me want to move out into the mountains and be a hermit. Here, this is a sweet news story that I read to make us both feel better.

8-Year-Old Girl Sends Tooth to Red Cross
BRANDON, S.D. - An 8-year-old girl with a big heart and loose tooth found a creative way to help people displaced by the hurricanes.

Briton Nordmeyer sent her tooth to the Red Cross chapter in Sioux Falls, hoping the tooth fairy would leave money there instead of under her pillow.

The tooth poked a hole through the envelope and fell out, but her letter made it.

And after word spread of her generosity, a $500 check came in from an anonymous donor.

Briton had told her mother she wanted to do something for the children who lost everything.

"It's really nice to help them get new food, homes, schools, toys, lots of stuff to help them," Briton said.

I'm a lesbian fave.

Today I had a trunk show with Amy and Tina, plus Bee was there. It was at the Texas Monthly offices high above Austin on the top floor of the Omni. Super swanky. We all went for Greek food after then I went on a hunt for some thank you cards. Who knew cards were so hard to find. I can't even find any cute ones online. On my way home feeling defeated in the card department I stopped by and looked at magazines and hit the press jack pot!

In the latest issue of Tiger Beat there are a pair of Naughty Secretary Club Mesh Mama Earrings.

The Linda Brooch and Prissy Necklace are both in the current issue of Cosmo Girl.

There is an article about Stitch and the Austin Craft Mafia in the issue of Curve that is currently on the news stands. They called me a lesbian fave, I like to think they were referring to me and not my jewelry so I can think of myself as a babe magnet.

On the internet someone was nice enough to send me the link to a blurb about the Kiki purses on Treehugger.com

Man my head is so big it barely fits in the room.

Chris and I are about to snuggle in for our movie and dinner date we have never gotten around to. It's a toss up between Hotel Rawanda and The Man Who Would be King. Black bean tacos are for dinner that much I do know.

Hey what are you doing tomorrow night? Wanna meet me at Beerland to see the documentry Cory has been slaving away for months about the Texas Roller Girls. Here is the info...

Hell on Wheels Benefit!

Friday, October 14 at Beerland.

Music by HONKY and special guests. Raffles, silent auctions, rollergirls, Karaoke!

Come empty your wallet at Beerland and help foot the bill for the finishing touches of the documentary 5 years in the making!!!

Hell on Wheels is the ass kicking documentary film telling the story of a group of Texas women who band together to resurrect roller derby for the 21st century. Emerging from the Austin music and arts scene, these women create a rock and roll fueled version of all-girl roller derby that has spawned the derby craze currently sweeping the nation’s underground.

Kittens, cupcakes and babies - could my night get any better?

So first and foremost I signed up to walk in the Race for the Cure here in Austin today. You should totally SPONSOR ME. Seriously it is a really good cause to help fight breast cancer, it is a tax write off and it will help me raise more money on my team than all the other Austin Craft Mafia girls that are walking. Really any donation you can contribute is greatly appreciated. You will see the whole Austin Craft Mafia gang out chugging along on Nov 6th.

The whole idea for the walking in the race for the cure came about at last nights Austin Craft Mafia meeting. Jesse had the bright idea and I think it is a smashing one. Last night was a damn good meeting. Not because it was particularly productive or anything but it was nice to see the girls and there were three special treats.

1) Since Saturday was my birthday the girls made me Mississippi Mud flavored cupcakes. They even sang Happy Birthday to me and had me blow out candles. No one sang to me or had anything cake like for me Saturday (well there was the ice tea snow cone if that counts) so it was super sweet. Plus Susann gave me some furry rings as a gift!

2) As if cupcakes were not good enough, Jen A brought Yoshi with her. Man is that one handsome baby, he is so cute and so well tempered. He hardly cried at all, well a little when I demanded a turn holding him. He likes to be held on his belly in a superman flying through the air position. Oh babies are fun. Maybe one day I might start a littler of my own.

3) Speaking of litters the excitement of the meeting does not stop there. Jesse who hosted the meeting had a new kitten named Hot Lips who was teensy tiny and I am pretty sure loved me. Oh kittens are so endlessly entertaining. I remember when Georgie was just a baby. Lucy my dog wanted to eat her so for almost 2 months Chris and I did not sleep together because we had to keep them separated (the cat and the dog) and we felt too guilty leaving one or the other to sleep alone so we took turns in our own bedroom and the spare bedroom. Eventually kitty and dog met and all is well, but it took a long time. Anyway I left the meeting wanting a kitten more so than wanting to get knocked up.

When I left the meeting Hope and I went to Emo’s to see Architecture in Helsinki. After all the hype I was not that impressed really. There are a ton of them and the air reeked of body order and patchouli oil so the whole thing came across as a Phish style jam band which is always a turn off. Tina, Erin, Kurt, Hope and I just sat up in the bleachers and chatted. Oh and thank god for Bee she got Hope and I into Emo’s for free. It was funny she was working a different door so she had to write us a note to take to the other door dude. It worked.

Today I cancelled the threading appointment and Tina came over instead. Hope and Kurt are on their way to drop off purses. Chris and I are gonna chill out and watch a netflick tonight.

Tuesday, October 11, 2005

All I wanna hear is Saddle Tramp.

Oh don’t make me choose between Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah and Architecture in Helsinki tonight. It’s just too much decision making for one girl. I hear that Clap Your Hands might be sold out already so that will definitely make my decision easier. First of all I have to go to an Austin Craft Mafia meeting at Jesse’s. Knowing my old lame ass I will get tired and not hit either. I am also trying to quit smoking for the 45th time so that means I need to avoid drinking and other smokers and Emo’s is pretty much a haven for both. Oh will power and spearmint gum don’t fail me now! Keep your fingers crossed for me. Rumor is the cover is $12 so my decision might also be based on who I can sucker into going with me.

Today felt like a day of beautification. I had a facial, actually a chemical peel. They layer strong chemicals on your face and then it takes the top layer of skin off. My face and the heavy duty Mac make up they made me wear on Craft Lab for 8 hours a day did not mix well at all. Since I use Retina A I can’t get my eyebrows waxed without my skin coming off with the wax. Oh trust me the rumors are real, I have had scabs on my eyebrows from this. So instead I made an appointment to get my eyebrows threaded. I have never had threading so this should be exciting. Then I made an appointment with the fabulous Lisa Brooks to have my hair colored. Doo-doo brown hair is back and I need my luxurious red locks. Lisa is doing all the hair and makeup for the 4 producers of STITCH. She is totally amazing.

I know you probably think I am obsessed with downloading music, maybe I am. Here is what I added to my ITUNES today. Give me a break I have a gift certificate. The Who, Faith No More, Jay Z (I wish you could download Danger Mouse’s Gray Album), Ludacris, Bobby Darrin, Louis Prima, Dr. Dre, Perry Como, Esquivel, Busta Rhymes, Chicago, Old Dirty Bastard, Primal Scream, L7 (I went on a big hunt for Dickless, but all I could find was the Teen Angles), Juice Newton, Slick Rick (Oh how I used to love “Bedtime Story”), Rod Stewart, Ray Charles, Tears for Fears, Wayne Newton, Curtis Mayfield, Thee Headcoates (I didn’t know they covered “Ca Plaine Pour Moi” I only had the original and the Sonic Youth version), Christopher Cross and The Hot Hot Heat. Not whole albums or anything, just select songs.

I am now scooting around the house watching Napoleon Dynamite, eating a bagel and cleaning up a bit. Chris has band practice tonight so he is not coming home after work. Hope is meeting me here at 6:30 so at some point I need to slap some make up on. Guess now is as good a time as any.

Now can you think of a good reason NOT to show up? I didn't think so.

Moonlight Feels Right.

God I can finally sleep at nights because I have managed to locate this one song that was driving me crazy. See that really stupid movie “Stuck on You” is peppered with all these great 70’s jams. Car Seat or Wall Paper Songs as my sister and I call them. Long story short in the 70’s our parents were redoing their home so she and I spent a lot of time strapped into car seats traveling to wall paper stores listening to 70’s jams. ANYWAY this weekend while at Round Top I was in this one booth and the radio kept playing the best cheesy 70’s jams and I heard the mystery song from “Stuck on You”. See there is no soundtrack to the movie and you can look all over hell on the internet and you can’t even find the names of the songs. I was about to rent it just to watch the credits for this one song. Anyway I asked the woman who ran the booth what the name of the CD was and came home searching for “Soft Rock of the 70’s” to no avail. I kept googling about the movie and finally a review in the New York Times of the movie says the song I have been on a life quest for is called “Moonlight Feels Right” by a band called Starbuck. Here are the lyrics for you just to celebrate.

MOONLIGHT FEELS RIGHT
Starbuck

The wind blew some luck in my direction
I caught it in my hands today
I finally made a tricky French connection
You winked and gave me your o.k.
I'll take you on a trip beside the ocean
And drop the top at Chesapeake Bay
Ain't nothing like the sky to dose a potion
The moon'll send you on your way

Moonlight feels right
Moonlight feels right

We'll lay back and observe the constellations
And watch the moon smilin bright
I'll play the radio on southern stations
Cause southern belles are hell at night
You say you came to Baltimore from Ole Miss
Class of seven four gold ring
The eastern moon looks ready for a wet kiss
To make the tide rise again

We'll see the sun come up on Sunday morning
And watch it fade the moon away
I guess you know I'm giving you a warning
Cause me and moon are itching to play
I'll take you on a trip beside the ocean
And drop the top at Chesapeake Bay
Ain't nothin like the sky to dose a potion
The moon'll send you on your way

In other music news I bought a new Gold Chains CD because I think Hope and I are going to have “Rock the Parti” by them for our runway segment of Stitch. It’s gonna rock, lots of gold, ping pong balls and more. HOLY CRAP I just had the weirdest thing happen. Well since I was thinking about life long searches for songs I decided to go on a hunt for this random Stereolab song that I have no idea what it is called or what album it is on. Once upon a time an ex-boyfriend put the song on a mixed tape for me. I remember it was really slow, lots of “bah, bah, bahs” pre 2000. I know that sounds like lots of Stereolab songs. All I know is that it is not on any of the CDs I own or any of the music available on ITUNES, knowing my luck it is from some random import 7”. Anywhoodle while looking for the song I decided to download a few others I did not have and downloaded “Crest” from Transient Random Noise Bursts with Announcements. I am pretty sure that Gold Chains “Rock the Parti” is the same back beat as “Crest” they sound almost identical. When I played them at the same time they matched up perfectly, maybe the Gold Chains song is some weird mix or mash up or something. What a freaky weird coincidence. I had another freaky weird coincidence with Stereolab in London, but that is a whole different story for another day. Anyway, if you have any suggestions about what this Sterolab song that I am hunting for might be, please let me know. My guess is the song might be called “Avant Garde M.O.R.” and I have the album that is on ordered from Amazon. Also if you can validate my sneaking suspicions that “Rock the Parti” and “Crest” are the same back beat an affirming email would be nice.

Back to Hope. She has come up quite a bit in this blog entry. I added some new purses of hers to the web site today. They are pretty rocking. I think I love the little owl the best.

You have already gone and snagged one of her new T-shirts too right? Check out the one of a kind hand painted dresses too. She is going to have one in the gift guide of Bust in December so you know those babies are gonna sell out quick.

Purses are not the only new items on the site we also added new nouveau necklaces, nostalgic notions earrings and revamped vintage earrings. Check em all out. I am trying to make up for lost time this week and add a bunch of new fun stuff to the web site.

I think I am going to spend the rest of the afternoon making appoints and sorting receipts from my trip. I need to put a second coat of paint on the entry way. It looks pretty spiffy aqua. I have a Stitch meeting tonight downtown with the girls then an Austin Craft Mafia meeting tomorrow. Bizzy, bizzy, bizzy.

New Knits on the Block

Check out the cover of Vickie’s new book New Knits on the Block. Look really closely at the ring on her finger. Yeah it is a Naughty Secretary Club Revamped Vintage Onyx Ring. Also, look for my casa in a few pictures in the book like monster hats, tooth fairy alien pillow and Hawaiian Dolls in a sleeping bag thing.

Hey did you know Beta Valentine and Bellakun both have new CDs out? Both are the latest releases on the label I co-own with Chris Has Anyone Ever Told You? Have you seen the Beta Valentine video that PJ did? That is funny stuff yo. You should totally score the CDs and watch the video.

Speaking of music here are the downloads of the last few days: Dizzie Rascal, Broken Social Scene, Al Stewart, The Streets, Jerry Lee Lewis, LCD Soundsystem, Harry Bellefonte M83, The Hold Steady, and Atmosphere.

So today is Sunday the day after my 31st birthday which was pretty anticlimactic. I spent yesterday for the third day in a row at Round Top perusing antiques. I got some cool stuff like and old coke crate for magazines, a bunch of pink vintage toys for my all pink bathroom, the best thing is an old 50’s TV shell. The TV is long gone, but the shell is really awesome and I am going to look into having it made into an aquarium. If that does not work out then I am going to saw the front off and make it into a picture frame. I am going to pick up my barber station at Uncommon Objects today, keep your fingers crossed that it fits in my mother’s car. After she heads back to Dallas today Chris and I are going to paint the entry hall teal to match Maurice and Fifi and buy some paint for the spare bedroom. Home decorating party around here.

Maurice and Fifi

Meet today's scores from the Round Top flea market, Maurice and Fifi. Ok they are both Maurice, but I am going to pretend they are two sperate dogs. They are holy craptastically cute. They are big and framed and have teal velvet matting. What is not to love. Now I just have to find the right place for them.

So tomorrow is my berfday, ya I'll be 31 (but shhh don't tell). Cory sent me a bday present today that sweetie a jewelry book and a Big Black CD (Songs about F*$#ing) that I have been wanting. I am going to dinner with the fam in Smithville tomorrow night to celebrate.

my first phone posting

boy is this exciting, is it working?

Mr rug is better than your rug.

Um ya how fabulous is my new zebra rug. No zebras were hurt with this rug, only Brazillian cows.

Musical Tiffs Between Man and Wife

I finally got around to scanning in my little blurb in the latest issue of For Me Magazine. My poor father-in-law apologized to me when he read it. Bless his precious heart, he is such a sweetie and look what the comment did for me. Didn’t hurt my feelings then and I thank him for it now.

Finished the slow and tedious process of unpacking. I hate this part. I totally over packed in the “going out outfits” department and should have packed way more jeans and T-shirts. You live and learn right. At least the house is all clean and pretty. Either I am the slob culprit since I have been gone 5 weeks or when the cleaning lady came to the house Saturday before I arrived she worked miracles. Could be some of both.

Since I have been home I have really gotten a lot of work done. Natalie and I busted out a ton of orders yesterday. I am sad to report that Natalie is leaving me. She is a jewelry super star and is too busy for me:) I love her oodles and hope she does great. I am going to miss having her to talk to. I might try and find someone new, so if you know anyone who knows how to make jewelry send em my way.

After work yesterday and book revisions and paying lawyers and running errands I went and met up with Erin. Erin got a new house super close to me that is really cool. She might even be getting a pool put it, whoo-hoo!

She went with me to pay for my latest addition to casa Jennifer and Chris. The most awesome blonde wood barbers station from the 50’s. It even has a drawer with a glass front that says sanitizer. I am putting it in the spare bedroom and it is going to rawk so hard in there. It is taller than me with a big mirror.

My mom is coming to visit today with her SUV so hopefully I can get it home this weekend. Really my mom is coming to visit because it is my favorite event of the year, which actually happens twice a year. Well my birthday is Saturday too, but that is not it. It’s ROUNDTOP!!! Only the 2nd largest flea market in the country. It started yesterday and ends Sunday and is so big my mom and I will go all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday and not even finish going through it all. I am so excited I could pee my pants. I am on the prowl for new and exciting jewelry parts. I am really on a home decorating kick too. I need to 50’s Asian paintings to finish filling the wall in my living room. I need a dresser for my bedroom and an entertainment center because I am dying for a big TV. Oh ya and I am getting a zebra skin rug for my Tiki game room. Well really it is cow skin dyed to look like zebra. Hopefully my cat and dog won’t eat it.

Chris and I got into one of our silly music arguments last night. We love to argue because my IPOD will flip from The Locusts to Dionnone Warwick. He was saying you don’t have any jazz on there as we sat on the porch beers in hand and I flipped right to Billie Holiday and Django Reinhardt. He said you don’t have any math rock so I tried with the Paper Chase and Helium and ended up appeasing him with some Mind Science of the Mind. Not wanting to be stumped again I just downloaded my favorite Polvo song “Gemini Cusp” and am listening to it in all it’s mathy 17 different parts goodness. See Chris thinks that since I don’t play an instrument (now there were brief piano, saxophone and guitar moments in my life) that I don’t know about music. Even after listening to it for years and writing about it for even more (Naughty Secretary Club, Splendid, Delusions of Adequacy, Venus and more). He thinks since he plays an instrument (ok he can play lots of insturments) and only listens to early 90’s music from the DC area that he knows when music is good more so than I do. This is an ongoing silly argument we have had for the last 7 years of our relationship that we always get into. Two music nerds butting heads is a funny thing and neither of us will ever let the other be right. Oh and pssst Chris if your reading this Journey’s “Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin” is not a bad song and I just added more Dinosaur Jr to the media player and the only reason it was not on there before is because all the J Mascis related music we have in the house is on vinyl and it is kind of hard to get that onto your IPOD. Ya and maybe there is no Husker Du in my IPOD but there is plenty of Bob Mould and Sugar so there! FACE! STUFF!

Oh and thanks Jesse for the recommendation about Lady Sovereign this morning.

Ok think I will go clear a wall for my new fabulous shelf.

Blogging from my phone...is it possible?

I want to try and figure out how to update my blog from my phone. I have a Treo so in theory this should be completely possible. For times like the last several days when I don’t have a whole story to tell just points of interest like…

-The stewardess on my flight from Phoenix to Austin had some of the most disturbing bad hair I have ever witnessed. Cute young thing with her hair all slicked around her face and then spiked in a complete circle in the back like she had stuck her finger in a socket.

-I downloaded Tetris onto my phone and that was a big mistake, because now I am addicted.

-Speaking of big mistakes Chris and I went and saw “A History of Violence” yesterday and it was not so hot. We never go see movies and I had such faith in David Cronenberg, but alas. I went home and moved “Dead Ringers” up in my netflicks que.

-After the movies I went to dinner with Hope, Kurt, Courtney, Matt, Erin, Mark and Cory. Chris was ill and stayed home. Chili Rellenos with pecan cream sauce at Polvos hit the spot.

-Today I am updating my website, unpacking, cleaning my product off from ACL, sending some goodies to Elle Girl, meeting Chris for dinner then going to a Stitch meeting at 7. Only back 2 days and life is back to super busy as always.

-A nice fellow from Tennessee I went out to karaoke with while in Los Angeles informed me that my favorite This Mortal Coil song “Song to the Siren” was actually a cover. Today is my first day back on Itunes and I found the original by Tim Buckley. Now he is no Liz Fraser, but I could learn to like this.

burbank airport 2 hours till take off.

Seriously the Burbank airport plays good music. Every time I am here they play good stuff. So yeah I am at the airport getting ready to fly home and seriously I can’t wait. I had such a good time here in Los Angeles. The people I worked with our the nicest bunch of peeps ever. All the guests rawked. Last night we had our wrap party. It was good to see everybody one last time and my mom was there too so that was cool. She had done a guest segment on a show that ruled making tissue box covers.

See now they are playing Def Leppard “Photograph” on the airport stereo.

Anyway so ya last night was fun and sad. I was super pumped that I got a new camera as my parting gift. Did I tell you about half way through the show mine went missing. Well ya it did. All is well I got a new and improved model that I like even better.

So headed home to work work and more work. This next week I need to order some jewelry supplies, update Naughty Secretary Club, work on the Austin Craft Mafia book, work on my own book proposal, Stitch is blowing and going and I need to jump right back into that. No rest for the wicked.

One last parting note. You should check out my sister’s web site Hot Pink Pistol. She just added a ton of new cool items like dresses and T-shirts.
